Part II: Assessment of Class

5. Do you feel this class was structured in a way to require equal participation from all class members?

Yes because whether you were a talkative person or not you had to still contribute to the group, and give info to the speaker of the group so he could represent the goals and ideas of the country. In this class people not participating wasn't really an issue, Catherine, demanded too much for us to stand idle, however I am not saying it was too much work.

The different roles allowed for different tasks to be completed but everyone was able to contribute equally. The class was a success because it prompted the participants to take their own initiative-and everybody did.

Yes, because if there was not equal participation the influence of the group as a whole would have been incredibly weak. In my group I think that when we had issues we wanted to push it took all of us researching to come up with strength so that we could push our issues on to the other countries carbon trading and non-CO2 gases were what we wanted and we all worked hard so that we could get them involved and it worked.

I was skeptical because of all of the group assignments but every effort I took part in there was a very even dispersal of effort.

I think maybe the NGO or media might have felt overwhelmed because they were studying broad topics but in the same token countries spent a lot of time on specifics I think everyone had to do their fair share of the work.

I'm not sure if the class "required" equal participation of all members. However, I do think the class gave the opportunity for all the members to express themselves as much as they desired. I thought our class was exceptionally motivated to work within and outside of class, which contributed to the high level of work accomplished.

Yes I think so because I never really felt I had nothing to do, I was either busy with a presentation or helping do the research for people.

The structure of equal participation was definitely an aspect that needs improvement. Many of the assignments were undertaken by the same students, while others did not contribute nearly as much. This could be improved by better outlining assignments for lab and giving more structure to weekly presentations and debates.

This class required equal participation from all members, but the ability for everyone to participate was sometimes hindered. In the beginning of the course, it was obvious the outspoken participants, from the shy. This often led to narrow minded discussions. Perhaps, more structure surrounding equal participation was needed.
