Part III: Suggestions for Improving Class

3. Please add any comments on how you feel this class can be improved.

This class was a fabulous class, only complaint would have been that it seemed lost or unorganized a couple of times, however I think that was probably out of anyone's control, due to the fact that this was the first time that this class has ever been attempted, and we were under such a time constraint.

Now that I think about what I just said, that could have been why you had so much participation. People wanted to help move the class, and make it happen. It made you feel more involved, more like you were running the show.

Great job to all of you that put this together. I would take this class again in a heartbeat.

The class was fun and I think that the people that are involved make it that way. The professor and TA are already excited and ready to make the class a success, but students generally need a little bit of prodding. This shyness is overcome much easier when objectives and desires are known with clarity from the very beginning. If anything needed to be improved, I would ask for more guidance at the beginning of the class because I didn't really get immersed in the material.

At first I thought the class would have been a lot better if we had a background on what issues we should strongly emphasize depending on our countries views, but then I realized how that would have really weakened things. I think that it was much better to be able to explore the issues that concerned us and then adapt them into an argument so that they could benefit our country and the rest of the world. I think that this happened for many people in the class, and I think that our Protocol is evidence of this. It encompasses so many issues that Kyoto never addressed. These issues are only there because we explored way beyond what some countries would have attempted to address. I think that this was a wonderful course, and everyone in my personal life has heard about it from me. It has been hands down the most intense class I have ever taken, I have worked the hardest because I was forced but even more than that willing. I wanted to get things addressed and the only way that would be done is if you worked for it.

I thought the class had a superior approach to the problem of global climate change.

I think the class was great no improvements.

Sometimes the class was really pushed for group work time. Since individual schedules are difficult to accommodate, especially with large groups, there could be more time for group work in class starting from the beginning. Also, I think the class could accommodate more students (around 40.) By cross-listing the class with other majors, more students would be intrigued to take the class.

I had a lot of fun in this class. I liked how the students were able to have freedom and collect research in any possible way. I will definitely recommend this class to people that are looking for classes next summer.

This class can be improved by bringing in participation from different majors other than just Geography. Since people from different majors seems to look at the same problem in a very different way and thus come with a very different solutions.

I understand that this is the first time this course has been offered, but it definitely needs more structure. Let us know what we need to do in lab. Be more detailed about assignments. I can't tell you how many times everyone got into the lab and wondered what we were suppose to do. I'm sure this is a problem that will be improved by your next class, but I thought I would add it in. Overall though, excellent course I had a great time and learned a lot in a new and better way.

I enjoyed this class immensely. I feel that the structure and format of the class needed to be simplified and clarified. Creation of a more organized schedule, allowing most of the time given to research and computer work, will be beneficial in the future. This class covered a lot of material in a short amount of time, I think with a more precise schedule and realistic work load, the students can prepare quality presentations without the rush, due to lack of time. Introduce the media kit early. The basic information in the final media kit was great, I think that if we had that information to begin with, perhaps we could have gone further into our research.
